The 47th Primary School of Heraklion is located in the suburb of Agios Ioannis in Heraklion, Crete, approximately three kilometres from the archaeological site of Knossos. The school follows the Greek National Curriculum and serves around 300 pupils, offering a modern and creative learning environment that supports both academic development and personal growth.

Our teaching staff consists of highly qualified educators, many of whom hold postgraduate or doctoral degrees. The school aims not only to prepare students academically but also to help them develop essential life skills such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and responsibility.

The school is considered a pioneer in innovation and STEM education. It was the first school in Greece to receive the STEM School Label from European Schoolnet and is one of the European STEM School Ambassador Schools, being the only school from Greece participating in this network.

We prepare our students for life!

In addition, the school actively participates in European educational initiatives and networks such as eTwinning, educational programmes of the European Space Agency (ESA) and, since 2024, it has been a member of the European Blue Schools network, promoting experiential learning and environmental awareness among students.

In 2026, the school was also awarded the Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of School Education, further strengthening the international dimension of its educational activities and enabling regular participation in European mobility programmes for teachers and students.

The 47th Primary School of Heraklion collaborates closely with the local community and participates in a wide range of educational initiatives, including environmental programmes, robotics competitions, cultural projects, reading promotion activities and interdisciplinary learning projects that foster creativity and active student engagement.

Our goal is to create an open, innovative and inclusive school environment, where every student can develop their abilities, express their ideas and feel that they are an active member of a vibrant learning community.
